Julia Gittleman, PhD. is a Principal of Mendelsohn, Gittleman & Associates, LLC (MGA), a small consulting firm that specializes in program evaluation, performance management strategies, best practice research and strategic planning for non-profit, community-based organizations. Through her work at MGA, Julia has focused on the efficacy of programs and organizations. She has designed and implemented systems and solutions for measuring performance, providing technical assistance, coaching, strategies, tools and reporting processes. In undertaking this work, Julia has drawn on her background as a direct service provider, and as an organizational leader designing, managing and evaluating programs in the nonprofit sector. Julia has conducted numerous studies using assessment tools, surveys, interviews and focus groups. Julia has a proven track record with a range of organizations, including those working in youth development, out-of-school time, the arts and K-12 education.

Before forming Mendelsohn, Gittleman & Associates, LLC with Tom Mendelsohn, Julia began her career as a direct service provider, and then spent more than a decade designing and managing human service programs. At Crittenton Hastings House in Boston, MA she held a number of positions over eleven years, most recently as the Chief Program Officer/Vice President of Programs. Julia has a doctorate in social policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University where her research concentrated on welfare, substance abuse and family policy.
