Melanie Patz joined Baptist Health September 2014. As Vice President of Community Investment and Impact, Melanie directs the development of the Community Health Needs Assessment in collaboration with Brooks Rehabilitation, Mayo, St. Vincent’s Health System and UF Health. She leads the development and implementation of plans to address the needs prioritized in the plan for each of Baptist Health’s five hospitals. She supports the Baptist Health Social Responsibility and Community Benefit Board Committee as they invest $2.5 million to improve the health of the Northeast Florida community. She leads a team of 8 professionals who implement programs that improve access to healthcare, engage the faith community to improve health outcomes, and work with local nonprofits to provide youth from disadvantaged communities mentoring, support and employment to help them be successful in school and life. Melanie has 25 years of nonprofit management experience and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Samford University and an MBA with a concentration in Economics from the University of North Florida.
She serves as Chair of the System of Care Initiative Board of Directors and on the 904WARD Board of Directors. She is a graduate of the 2005 Community Coaches program and Class of 2006 Leadership Jacksonville. Melanie was recognized as a 2013 Woman of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal, a 2019 Community Health Hero by Agape, a 2020 Woman of Distinction by Gateway Council of Girls Scouts, and a Humanitarian by OneJax in 2020.
Melanie enjoys running, sleeping and reading. She and her husband, Jason, live in Avondale.
