Latisha James is an Advisor, Equity to Morino Ventures and the Leap Ambassadors support team. She assists with charitable and civic efforts to advance mission-related and community-based outreach and initiatives.
She also serves as the Executive Vice President for External Affairs and Operations for the Urban League of Hampton Roads, Virginia. One of the oldest civil rights organizations in the country, the Urban League of Hampton Roads offers resources and services aimed at improving equity and economic empowerment for Black and other underserved communities through education, employment, housing, finances, health and entrepreneurship programs. Previously, she was a consultant for the Hampton Roads Alliance, charged with developing an economic inclusion strategy focusing on four priority areas: Workforce Diversity, Board Diversity, Supplier Diversity and Corporate Social Responsibility for the Hampton Roads region. Thanks to her work, equity and inclusion are positioned as critical components of Virginia’s Economic Recovery & Resilience Action Framework.
Latisha moved to Virginia in 2019, bringing 25 years of successfully leading government and corporate social responsibility platforms for some of Cleveland, Ohio’s largest employers: the city of Cleveland, The Cleveland Indians Baseball Company, Case Western Reserve University, and MetroHealth Hospital. A graduate of Wilberforce University (the nation’s first private historically black college and university) and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, she and her family are excited to call Virginia home.
